MoobilenetX - The Secure UC Davis Campus Wireless Network

Notice: You will not be able to log in to MoobilenetX if you have not changed or refreshed your password recently (since July 17, 2006). Refreshing your password should take care of the problem (you may keep the same password if you wish). To refresh your password, visit Computing Accounts Webpage and select the "Change your password" option. After you refresh your password, wait about 10 minutes and then you should be able to log in to MoobilenetX.

MoobilenetX (SSID: moobilenetx) is a new wireless network on campus that offers the following improvements over Moobilenet.

  • 128-bit encryption - all communications between your computer and MoobilnetX are encrypted. Encryption is important for securing your internet traffic and protecting it from being intercepted by a malicious third party.
  • Improved roaming - MoobilenetX maintains sessions and connections while roaming and allows for smoother handoffs and transitions between wireless access points than with standard Moobilenet.
  • Faster log in process - Once you configure your laptop and log on, MoobilenetX allows you the option of staying logged in when you change locations across campus and try to reconnect.

MoobilenetX was released on September 24, 2007, in time for the start of the 2007-2008 academic year.
